slopestyle
Slopestyle is another class of biking and some people may not consider it "mountain biking". As I said in my blog slopestyle is much like a mix of mountain biking and BMX. Slopestyle is all about hitting big jumps and tricks on the bike. Slopesyle courses are often just a set a jumps that are on a downhill- or "slope". The competitions are scored by judges who rate the rider based on the requirements set up for the competition, some of the most common ones are style, tricks, flow, air, and speed carried through the jumps.

Bikes
The bikes used in slopestyle are small, usually with a wheel base of 26". The bikes frames are normally made from aluminum so they are strong, and still lightweight. The suspension on slopestyle bikes is normally not much, just enough to help soak up big hits or drops. There is normally about 100mm of travel on the fork and if the rider is using a full suspension bike there is normally 100mm in the rear also. The tires are normally thin and don't have knobs like a downhill bike. slopestyle bikes also have 1 gear and sometimes only a rear brake or no brakes at all because the riders don't want cables getting in the way.
